Winter wheel/snow tire setup
I spent some time with the Tire Rack guys which was excellent, but they have limited wheel options. I think I would like to go with 18" diameter (-1" from oem) for better winter weather performance and tire selection. Not to mention better pricing for the 18s vs 19s. I did some trolling on this forum, but have not turned up a lot options. I've seen some takeoff bmw wheels on Craigslist, but unfortunately winter is here I waited to long...ugh! What is your opinions?
Thank you in advance for your help. Bob- PS. the throttle delay on this car is still unacceptable to me. Other than the lame tires and the throttle issue we love the car. Last edited by boulderbobo; 11-13-2014 at 03:52 PM. |

so i had the same dilema but in NYC winter is not quite there yet well by snow standards, it is getting cold. I was looking up and down and just by a miracle of luck found someone selling their bmw original winter package taken off with somewhere around 8k miles driven. from what I got on the topic it would be best to go with a dedicated set of 18" for like you said better tire selection and price. that said i saw a posting somewhere in CO for the bmw original set on craigslist so it may be worth looking into it. all seasons weren't an option for me because i have 20" staggered so that would be silly for a daily driver. we had an ML350 before and it had 19" with all season 255 but i was very disappointed so if you can get a dedicated second set with winter rubber

But a winter tire is always better than an all season no doubt. I just know the limits of my tires and drive accordingly

Boulderbobo,
I run the Sprintbooster on my M6 and it's amazing in defeating the throttle delay. Highly recommend it! Sprint Booster USA - AT
