Deep Snow Pictures
I flew into Duluth MN Tuesday Night where I had left my 2011 35d and after our winter storm it was the first time I drove it in the snow. I was not confident in it's capability with the Michelin Latitude 315/35/20's on the rear and the 275/40/20's on front. I had Bridestone Blizzaks on my 2006 man-trans X5 and that thing was unstoppable in the snow. Typically, the wider the tires, the worse the snow/ice driving capability. I was pleasantly surprised with the snow performance of the Michelin Latitude's. 2 hours southeast of Duluth (Cayuga Wisconsin) is my cabin and there was 2 feet of fresh snow there. The gravel road to my cabin was plowed earlier in the day and now there was 10" of fresh snow on the road and I had no problems driving on that. But, then I got to my cabin driveway and attempted to get in the driveway but was unsuccessful. I believe the tires would've been successful but with that much snow it would pack and lift the front of the vehicle and the tires then lost traction. Here's a picture after I couldn't go any further and backed up a few inches. It's been snowing for a while again and will head for the cabin after the weekend and try to get in the driveway after shoveling. Supposed to be almost 3 feet of fresh snow now so it'll definitely be a workout with the snow shovel. I'll post more pics when I get back to the cabin next week.
