gas question
a thread on here earlier made me think about this and not sure if its a :stupid: question but here it goes: what are the better brands of fuel to use, i've been going to HESS but someone mentioned a long time ago manuals actually warned against HESS specifically. that being said any specific ones to go to and avoid as well?

Top Tier Gasoline
I typically use BP since it is near me. I avoid the smaller no brand gas. Who knows how stale the Premium gas is in there. |

You've got me curious about the Hess gas now as that's the only one close to me. I guess I'll drive across town for the Mobil then.

While the additive package is unknown no name brand fuel, how important is it with direct injection? You can keep the injectors clean by fuel additives. You don't have to worry about deposits on the valves as the fuel never touches them to get in the cylinder. In many areas, it is the same fuel being sold, just the additive package is different. There are gasoline pipelines in many areas to get the fuel in. So all stations in that area are getting the fuel from the same place. So the only thing that they can do is change the additive package.

If you have a gas station near you which sells ethanol-free gas, I would recommend that. And then add some Techron periodically to clean things out.
You can find a list of ethanol-free gas stations here: Ethanol-free gas stations in the U.S. and Canada

Try to measure the octane number and then get the gas from where are the best results. That is how I did where I live.We measured that number using one volvo's trip computer and now I use just the gas stations with the best results from our test.
