But under 2k is where you drive a lot in the city, with all that down low torque, right?

Yes, I'm getting exactly the same now on my X5d. Pulls really hard and consistenly through all reanges once it gets going. Under 2000 rpm I get the lag.
You mentioned reprogramming the transmission? Can you elaborate?

I said "I wish" We have the tools to read and write the transmission control module, but no idea which map is what. Someday maybe.
