deptrai is on a distinguished road
Got the torque OK. Put everything back together. Bled coolant. Star engine and loud noise. A little smoke coming from EGR cooler/EGR interface. That clamp wasn't properly seated and I can't get it back on properly. I can't get it to cover both the EGR cooler portion and the EGR itself.

EDIT: I got that SOB on there. I think I didn't have it lined up even when I first tightened it. This caused the flange to bend a little. I got a pair of pliers and mashed it back flush with the EGR and re-installed the clamp. Started car again and still a noise from that clamp area. I tighten the clamp more and with every turn of the driver, the noise diminished until it was finally gone. You have to tighten that clamp as far as you can. Keep going until it won't go any further.

Test drive hit 92C when I thrashed it on some twisty farm roads. 90C on the highway. Was 80-81C before surgery.

I never want another German car.
