I prefer the F15 over the E70, but I won't be buying one, as my E70 was just too downright unreliable.

Jury's still out....

I'd like to know if I can retrofit the lower rockers from the M Sport so that I stop getting stone chips in front of the rear wheels.

Individual X5
The refined BMW Individual paintwork in Ruby Black and Pyrite Brown metallic convincingly prove the point. The latter, inspired by the precious mineral pyrite, reveals gold-coloured pigments when light falls on its surface, giving the BMW X5 an impressive character. With the BMW Individual paint finish in Ruby Black metallic, a powerful reflective quality and an intense shine seem to emerge from myriad ruby crystals. For a look of true sporting elegance, there are also BMW Individual wheels in a V-spoke design. Their finely structured, progressive form, laser-engraved with the BMW Individual signature, sets an exclusive accent.

The interior of the new BMW Individual X5, featuring materials of unparalleled quality and a unique sense of space, is another exceptional proposition. Of particular note is the fine-grain Merino leather in the colours Amaro Brown and Criollo Brown. With this, only the most carefully selected, incomparably supple leather undergoes a meticulous tanning process. The special character of BMW Individual leather can be found in the fine detail, too. The seams and decorative piping are made in the finest leather and appeal with their contrasting colours while, yet again, demonstrating hand-crafted perfection.

The highest expression of craftsmanship can also be seen in the exclusive BMW Individual interior trims for the new BMW X5. Whether it is Piano Black or Sen Light Brown, both trims captivate with their masterful, intricate finishing. They also perfectly complement the interior of the BMW Individual X5. And prove that true exclusivity is found in the detail.

Nope. From press release: The rear comfort seats can be specified either as an individual option or together with the optional third row of seats.

Initial Thoughts

I am not a big fan of the F15's "look" now that I see it unmasked. It looks barely "kinda OK" - IMO.

If I try to place what I am looking it - it looks like the mid-point of morph between an E70 and an X1. I like it that it looks like an E70 because I like the look of the E70. However, where it has changed has been towards the X1 and X3,neither of which loom as good as the E70. I particularly do not like the pointy rear-most side window in the X1, and I especially don't like it on the F15.

I admit that most BMWs grow on me over time, but I really doubt that it is going to ever be a very well loved model, style-wise.

A couple vehicles that I think look very nice are: Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cayenne, Q5 and Touareg. I think all of these vehicles are nicer looking than the new X5. The best looking of the bunch (IMO) is the Cayenne. The current Cayenne is an evolution (like the X5 has evolved from E53 to E70 to F15). However, the current Cayenne is (IMO) the best looking Cayenne yet, but I think both the E53 and the E70 are nicer looking than the F15.

This happens sometimes with BMW - take the 5 series. The E28, then the E34 and then the E39 was a nice progression in style and beauty. Then, the E60 was hard to like by many, although it grew on me a little bit, it remains (IMO) a bit of an ugly duckling as far as 5 series go. Now the latest 5 series F10 is a much needed return to beauty and sems to be very well received.

Maybe the F15 will be a little this way (an awkward interlude), although I don't think it is as odd looking as the E60 5 series was.

Knowing BMW, I would predict that the mechanicals will all have improved - I like it that the diesel is finally getting the 8 speed. And, it nice that the 4.4 V8 is getting a nice power boost too! I am sure the X5M will see some power improvements and an 8 speed as well.

Kinda weird at the rear end, but over all still good...I still prefer E53 design until now.
