You're right about it being pearl white but its not a distinct pearl like on Cadillac. If you don't look at it up close, it does not show the pearly shine.
I have a '14 f30 and i really like it better than alpine white. |

It isn't old man pearl white by any means. It is a metallic color (not a pearl) and the extra 'flake' in the paint makes it look very nice. Alpine White is a great color if you want to save $500 but Mineral is very nice.

It is hard to explain, but it just looks more expensive in my book. I had alpine white on me e70 and mineral white on my f15 and as much as I liked alpine white, mineral white is just a step up especially on a sunny day!

Looked at one last week. Does look better than Flat white. Does not have the
ivory tint of my white diamond truck which I like, but nice vs flat |
