M50D or 40D

Hi everyone.

I need some advice!

I'm going to change my 2008 X5 3.0SD after 260.000km and I'm between M50D and 40D. I really loved it but it's time for an update!
My mechanic told me that M50D has engine problems due to too much power and suggests 40D and add an chip program to get more power!!
I figured that if it's made by Motosport the M50D would be better and most probably it will have bigger brakes and stronger gearbox.
What should I choose?

I did a test drive with a 50D but found it a bit noisier than the 40D.
68HP less is no issue for me.
I've spent the price difference on options!
Most of the time I drive long distance.

As an owner of an m50d, I've had the possibility to also drive 40d, I can say to you... go for 40d.

m50d is nice on paper, but it comes with a lot less fuel economy and a very big price difference.

I just bought a used 40d. The spec was too good for a low mileage car, it’s fully loaded.

Having driven a few F15 examples, and ragged a 40d through woodlands at Goodwood, this was a sure bet. It will be hard to leave my E53 but that should get a good buyer. The F15 was too good to pass.
