Adding brake fluid
Our 2014 X5 vehicle info says that the brake fluid is low. I was attempting to fill it but found the reservoir to be under this stupid plastic screen that runs across the whole engine bay in front of the windshield. I don't see any plastic knobs that you can unlock the panel. Does anybody know how to remove this thing? Also, the car's owner manual doesn't tell you what type of fluid to use. Do you know? Thanks.

You gave scant details...a 2014 X5 (what?)?
Remember to give model/model year and any other pertinent info...especially when asking a question that could be different based on model, model year, engine, suspension, etc. ![]() Here's a direct link to the TIS website...I used an X5 50i to search with...I typed "replace brake fluid" into the search box...scrolled through the results near the top...and found this info...there's a link at the top that gives Necessary preliminary tasks instructions on how to remove the microfilter cover....perhaps this is what you're referring to (again, just guessing because I can't tell which engine set-up you have):

Thanks so much, Qsilver7. I have the XDrive 35i, but it looks the same as the picture. With the link you gave, I was able to find which type of brake fluid also. Much appreciated.
