Hmm... 35d Purchased, now reading HPFP failures. Replace pre-failure?. Time bomb?

So the wife and I were interested in upgrading from the E70 35d to an F15 35d for awhile now. We've loved the E70 35d even after trans failure (e-clutch bushing/bearing) and had no intention of immediately upgrading. Until about 3 days ago when I found a '15 35d with almost all the goodies on it. Reasonable price as well @ $23.5k from a small dealer. Mileage is meh @ 84.5k. Crappy dealer owned by foreign descent, I'll let you guess where they hail from. But the car checked out with a PPI so we moved forward.

So now that the car is ours technically (still at dealer awaiting pickup as we are out of town, but paid for) I am researching the platform, upgrades, retrofits, etc. Usual car guy stuff. And I see a bunch of threads across the different forums referencing HPFP failures. I see some for the E70's M57 as well but more for the N57s. My question; should I preemptively replace the HPFP? Is it a ticking time bomb? Am I needlessly concerned and these are "isolated" incidents? BMW blames the failures on bad fuel almost exclusively from what I read. Which tells me, there is likely a design flaw and it's convenient for them to pawn it off on the gas station, refinery, or worse the owner of the vehicle for putting in the "bad" diesel.
