Failure of mirror mounted turn sugnals

Strange problem today on my 2107 X5 35d. Both driver and passenger mirror mounted turn signal indicators stopped working. All other turn signals and dash mounted indicators are working normally. No error codes or messages indicated. Any ideas on what I should check to troubleshot this?
