The angle of the shot is odd, but I like what I can see of the interior. The extra depth and sculpting is a nice departure from the E70 dash, which is not bad, but is looking dated and chunky. I think the exterior is going to be nice, but I'm not certain about the rear styling yet as it puts me in the mind of the boxier Mercedes GL a bit. Hopefully when the camo drops this won't still be the case, and it will look a bit more lithe and sporty.

I too think it is going to be more streamlined (faster) looking. IMO, it is going to take the sleek look of the X3 (don't get me wrong - I prefer the E70 0ver the X3) and make it significantly better.
I think the new X5 is going to look sportier, which I like.

I agree with the X3 comment, but it will look far from sportier. It will just look like an X3 on steroids, and the X3 is far from sporty. I had the new BMW interiors with the stuck-on nav screens and cheap looking wood and leather cut-off points. All the new BMWs look cheap(er), and I quite like the 3 series, but you con not compare it to the E90/1/2.

So, the back of the video display is a sunglass holder!

That video display looks like an afterthought. Almost like someone slapped a Garmin on the dash. I much prefer the display integrated into the dash so that it gets a hood to cut down on glare.
I wonder if the design was influenced by cost cutting measures. Seems with this design it could be cheaper to produce vehicles with/without the display.

Good luck. Looks like BMW is putting the same display design into all their cars now. Frankly looks stupid and you are right, like a Garmin unit or worse.

I have to disagree about the dash, and feel it looks much better than the plank in the E70. It looks fittingly upscale, while the E70 looks like a scaled-up E90. Given how frequently BMW designs are copied, it won't be surprising if others follow suit.

At least Merc's implementation flips open and shut along with the ignition. Much better than this.
