F15 has landed at my dealer

My dealer received their launch F15 today. I have an appointment to drive it Saturday. Looking forward to it.

I will have the queen of car design with me (my wife) for her detailed review of how it looks. She has a long history of thumbing down cars. Her latest, didn't mind the former Acura MDX, hates the current model.

Should be fun.

Well if she likes it, she no longer is the queen of car design.

Just finished driving the F15 and I really wanted to be impressed but wasn't.

On the design, wife and I agree the exterior is lacking. It looks like the person who designed the side of the F15 was different that who did the front. The side looks dull/flat while the front is blocky and busy. My first instinct looking at the front was a pickup truck blockiness. The F15 we drove was black, curious to see if other colors look any better.

The interior is pretty nice, just like the current 5 series. My only issue was the huge LCD screen that sticks out instead of being laid back in my current X. I thought the screen was too big for where it sat and was a bit distracting while driving. Otherwise the interior is an upgrade. Turn signal was odd, I had to push it fairly hard to get it to hold (stay on).

Driving was just OK for me. This was a 35i. It felt lighter, but part of that is due to the steering which was way too light for me. It was 1970s Buick too light for me. The Goodyear runflats were brutal in turns and I think a different tire would change how the F15 felt.

It is quieter than the current model and felt a little smoother overall. Acceleration didn't feel much different even with the F15 weighing less. So nice comfortable car, but lacking some of the sport of the current model.

Reminds me a little of the first 7 series Bangle car. Can't help but wonder if there will be a faster refresh on the sheet metal. We will see.
