If you must go the "tapping into" route, I would advise you select a kl15 power source to tap into (switched power which is off when ignition is off.) for a retrofit like this instead of kl30 @ the FZD. Using kl30 is going to cause an increase in idle current consumption when the vehicle is off which will get noticed by the DME as it monitors the IBS over the LIN bus. Just a warning....
The FZD is removed by first prying off the front cover piece which is somewhat u-shaped. (The cover piece has the arrow with a21 pointing to it.) Its the piece you see with the vent slats in it looking at the fzd from the front. It is simply snapped into place on the FZD. Lightly pry down on this around the perimeter of the FZD and it should pop off. Once you pop this cover off, behind it you will see two rectangular channels on each side of the fzd with a silver pressure clip inside. Using a pick or flathead screwdriver, pry the silver clip over while gently pulling down on the fzd and it will unsnap from the headliner. Repeat on the other side. Make sure the key is off before you unplug it.
EDIT: Turning off the key won't matter....the FZD runs off KL30 (battery power) , functions availability comes from wakeup. So, if you can do this without unplugging the FZD, I would take that route. unplugging it is going to cause fault codes...
