Why compare with X5?
Different target markets....and those BMW made this for, like it....and that's what matters.........BMW does not want X5 buyers moving to X6.....why make two cars exactly similar to each other. |

Mind you, I own a 335 convertible myself, I love the car and I would never even think of buying a sedan, but it's that same mentality that interests me in the X6--mainly the fact that it simply looks better than the hunky X5 which has lost much of the E53's sportiness, can't argue with that. |

From the brief reviews I have read by journalists that have driven prototypes it sounds like the X6 will be a very impressive machine once you get behind the wheel.
It is going to be very interesting to see how the X6 does and whether there are sufficient people that want the dynamics over the practicality. I honestly think the rear seats are a major issue...people do look at practicality. I have lost count of how many people have rightly criticised the 6 series for it's poor packaging having very restricted rear space for it's size. It's cost BMW a lot of sales in my mind. I think only being able to carry four people will be a similar problem for the X6. |

I agree with you about the limited seating, and will be interested to see how popular it becomes. Otherwise I actually see it as practical enough for most people's needs.
We need BMW to remove some of the risk of being an early adopter, none of us are particularly keen on taking a bath and being the only ones buying an X6 so what BMW do over the next few months will be critical to the X6's success. I have said it before and will say it again, if BMW have not entered an X6 in the Paris-Dakar and therefore underlined its dynamic brand quality, then it risks being perceived as merely a (short-lived) fashion choice. I hope they're smarter than that.
