Dinan is going to tune the TT V8

I have been dying to find any mention of what they will be able to get out of it and finally they are beginning R & D. In fact, if someone is lucky enough to get one in the immediate future, they are seeking a test mule. See below from Dinans site:

DINAN IS SEEKING AN
'09 X6 50I FOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT!
The vehicle will be needed for approximately 1 week and the owner will receive Dinan Performance Software valued at $3000 absolutely free! Ideally, we would like to have a vehicle by August 4th. Contact a Dinan Performance Representative for details at 800-341-5480. Don't miss this opportunity to increase the power of your X6 significantly at absolutely no cost, and it's backed by Dinan's matching new car warranty coverage for up to 4 years or 50,000 miles.

I am betting they can go north of 500HP without a problem.

I thought you guys would share my enthusiasm?

I just checked back in and noticed that there have been dozens of people view this thread without a single reply. I thought there would be many more (like myself) that would be thrilled at the idea of having the X6 potentially slaughter the ML63 or Cayenne Turbo for tens of thousands less. Come on guys, where are my fellow enthusiasts?

Steve Dinan told me it would be between 75-100hp and closer to 100 torque. I was going to send my 50i to them but since I am in TX I did not want to be without my car for a month and half because he told me it could take up to two weeks to get car on truck to them, 1-2 weeks at his shop and up to two weeks to get car back. I would rather just pay for tune and enjoy my new X6 the next month and half while no one has them on the roads around here.

Thats great!

Hey Shenard,

Thanks for the reply and info, 75-100HP and 100trq sounds conservative and very doable. Take that into consideration with the fact that BMW has inevitably underrated the factory power at approximately 400HP +/- (as they did on the TT V6) and this thing is going to be a monster with the Dinan tune. Congrats on being one of the first to get yours, what are your impressions thus far? What are your specs/options etc, any pics you can share? What are you coming from into the X6 and what of the unique attributes that it offers where most appealing to you?

Sorry for all the questions, I have a 750 currently and I am considering replacing it with an X6 50i for an eclectic set of reasons and rationale. LOL

Thanks,

Vegas

100 HP increase along with 100 ft.lbs of torque is very feasible.

It does sound intriguing and I'm on the west coast (northern California) but don't think I want to take the hit at the gas pump.

You will only take the hit at the gas pump if drive more aggressively. If you drive the exact same as you are currently driving then you will most likely see a slight increase in gas mileage but I think I would have a hard time driving it easy if I had all that power!!!

It is very feasible and doable but when you Dinan is the only tuner that will match the current manufacturer's warranty they are not going to tune it to the full potential. They are always a little bit more conservative than others but usually one of the most reliable, but also most expensive.

I hear you.....

DMLGC,

I hear what you are saying, although these aren't going to be the ideal choice for commuters as is. Beyond a certain threshold of poor fuel economy, the pleasure of the power overcomes the pain at the pump. LOL

Impressions so far are that it is awesome!!! Best vehicle and most fun vehicle I have driven so far. I am coming out of a Lexus IS350 which is a fast car and teh X6 definitely feels faster from 0-100. Hard to tell 80-120 but seemed like maybe the IS350 was about as fast. Have not had enough time driving it aggressively yet because car only had 550 miles and not fully broken in yet. Handling is superb for a vehicle this size and the new technology that reduces body is amazing because it feels like it has less body roll than my IS350

I will definitely post some pictures in this weekend. I would have already posted pics but it has rained for the past week here and car is dirty.
