BMW X6 M at the Artic Circle

"to reflect the true M performance, it will offer a more rear-concentrated approach."

"Could the X6 M give the Porsche Cayenne S a run for its money?"

Isn't the 50i already faster then the cayenne S?

yes it is , taken a few with mine already. So for the M version looks like they will turn up the boost on the turbos, reprogram the xdrive to put more power to the rear wheel (instead of the 32/68) and put in some vents of course and go with the quad pipe exhaust. not sure how much they think they will be able to charge for this. For about $3k you can get a Dinan tune that will make the 50i put out 500 hp/520 lb ft torque.

So I guess they are going after the turbo porche cayenne with this.

That's what I would think. Because an M competing with just the cayenne S didn't sound right at all.

Cayenne S? ... ...A 2004+ 4.4i would match the performance of the Cayenne S. The X6 ///M will cannibalise the Cayenne S and GTS. It's competitor will be the Cayenne Turbo S and ML63 AMG.

I believe Dinan is still in R&D for the X6 50i and will soon begin R&D on the X6 35i.

It would be a good race between the cayenne S and the 4.4i but I think the 4.4i would win on a track. Don't know about in a straight line. The cayenne might be a little faster there.

What is all that sunlight doing in the photos captioned as being at the Arctic Circle in January or February?

The X6 is ugly, the Cayenne is not.

To each his own but I kind of like the x6. Looks very aggressive.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder, no?

Cayenne fascia has always looked out of proportion to me. Massive black vents & rad. grill is too much.
Nu Cayenne S looks better, side vents w/ double vanes in matching body color & fog lites.
X6: big black side vents (1 side is false) & small round fog lites are also not quite balanced either.
2008 Audi Q7's or MBGL looks better then either Cayenne or X6.
But ultimately, what do we know, except what we like, the designers of each marque have spent 1000's doing their design, we , the consumer vote with our pocketbook, because of perception of the marque's prestige, features, quality, & the "total package".
