Why don't you compare the 6 to a 911 or a performance car if you want. I would understand that more than taking a 5000 pound car and thinking it was a SUV. Everyone has their right to their opinion but I was just asking why does everyone think it's a SUV?
Well, firstly, your question seems misdirected because nobody in this thread "put the 6 in an SUV category"...the reviewers and BMW did. I know of several real SUV owners that purchased an X6 as an alternative. Now, do i personally think it's an SUV? Why the hell not? it's damn well close enough in plenty of categories aside from a true off-roader. I tow a variety of trailers and max performance in a premium SUV/SAV is ideal for me (insert the max towing capacity for a 911 here).

lastly, my understanding of the ///M philosophy besides motorsport, is a vehicle that can go from the road to the track and vice-versa. Being that i prefer SUV/SAV's for my lifestyle, either the X5 or X6 ///M would perfectly suffice for my needs and wants. So i guess an SUV/SAV with actual track capability AND towing capacity puts me in the category of their niche target demo.

My question to you is, why do you care if it's called an SUV? And have you driven one yet?

Many people mod their cars/SUV's looking for better handling, acceleration, braking, etc. Everyone deep down wants to be a 1/10 faster than the next person. How is that so hard to understand?

A lot of people had your attitude when the e53 came out or the Lexus RX..those things aren't SUV's...they are built on car platforms! Well, times have changed and now even the Ford Explorer is going to move from a body on frame design. The X6 is just the next evelution of the SUV. It has similar underpinnings of an X5, but with a more car like body. It is still SUV, IMO. Even if it has lost some utility. Not everyone is driving around in Suburbans or Escalades anymore.

If you want to see and X6 in car/crossover version look at the new 5 series GT.

i would consider the X6 a SUV -it is a clone of the Aztec shape and the Aztec is a suv..

also kinda looks like a 1990 honda CRX with 4 doors..

I never said it was going to win a beauty contest. Not from the side or back anyway.

Yeah, well we've only heard the X6/Aztec line a few times...keep repeating it and it may just become true. You're an auto dealer right? I challenge you to test drive an X6, preferably a V8 TT, and circle back with your thoughts. If only an Aztec could take a corner at 80mph

Thanks ekelly,
Good vid of some nice machines. Shame a 4.8 E70 wasn't asked along to the party, would've been an interesting outcome.
