Test driving the X6

We've been having some discussion about the X6 on the E70 forum on what started out as an X5 vs 550ix thread. I've decided to go ahead and test driving the X6 on Tuesday to see whether it will displace the '11 X5 I've spec'd as a replacement for my '07 X5.

Going to be driving a 50i and I have to admit I'm pretty excited. The looks of the X6 have been growing on me more and more to the point that I actually think it is a pretty hot SUV... SAV... SAC. I admit that I really do love my X5, so the 6 is going to have its work cut out for it.

I should probably drive the 35i just to say I did, but I don't think it will be able to compete with the V8.

The biggest problem if I get an X6 will be my username on xoutpost

If I order it will be a Titanium Silver/Black + Bamboo (like aluminium, but hate how easily it gets dinged up). Will likely get it pretty much like my '11 X5 (see sig).

One thing I will likely get (which I know will cause some to complain loudly) are the roof rails. I really need a place to put 4+ pairs of skis. Honestly I don't think they look that bad given how low profile they seem. Unfortunately it looks like my X5 supports won't work (of course) and I'll have to pay for a new set.

Does the X6 have the same roof loading system as the cars? If so, there are thule feet that fit in the existing roof rack mounts that work very well.

Make the test drive count Find yourself a nice tight curving entrance ramp and don't be afraid to go. Then get ready to sign....

My bad (meant cmyX5go)...damn that wicked hangover from last night

OP...looking forward to reading your feedback, especially considering that you owned an FX45. After testing the 50i, i'm now debating myself which XM...
