Stupid question I know, but I'm interested in this process. Does one disassemble the vehicle in the garage or the yard? And after it's parted out what happens to the rest of it?

It is becoming so sad that people part these cars out now as they are becoming fairly rare. Some peoples laziness and lack of enthusiasm is mind boggling. Fix the damn car or let someone buy it whole!

@x5Alpine, although I find your post slightly annoying, I can't fault you for feeling the way you do. You should know that I own a late '03 imola 4.6is which is just about mint (I would guess top 10 left in terms of overall condition) and an early production '04 sapphire black 4.8is that I love a little more than my 4.6is. The way I baby these two cars is almost weird at this point, but I love them and can't seem to find a newer X5 I like better or even close to as much. With regard to this silver one, it looks great in the pics but it was neglected towards the end of its life. It wasn't worth saving. If it was, I'd be the first to make a project out of it. I've gotten a million texts about buying the car whole with low ball offers. We all know it's worth more this way and I like to help fellow enthusiasts get the parts they need. So I decided to part it out. There are enough of these 4.6's still out in the wild that anyone passionate about then as we are can find one. This wasn't the one to save. Hope this all makes sense to you.
