Many different things to consider when selling any vehicle..

1) Location-How many "other" X5's are there, or are available in your area? The less there are, the more $$$ you get.

2) How "feasible" are the mods on it? I mean, a 40 year old soccer mom, (who by the way are very popular drivers on X5's) might not give a sh(* about a supercharger, but will pay a million bucks for running boards.

3)and most importantly, APPEARANCE!! The #1 reason cars sell. Impulse. I dont care how well you normally detail your car, but when sellin, it must be in immaculate condition. I would say way more than half of used car sales are a result of first impressions...

having said all that, you ALWAYS want to start high. And be PROUD of the price. Put a sign on the window with HUGE numbers stating the price. Even put up the printed sheet from KBB. The less covert your price, the easier to sell. I never have a car for sale more than 2 weeks before I move it. Basically, if you have a good product, it will sell itself...Lets see a pic!...

From my custom experiences tricking out a Harley Softail Duece and now a Fatboy. The money that is spent on changing a stock vehicle to one that is to your liking and specifications you will generally never see that money back. Period. I figure I will spend it on something anyway.

Even if it makes it prettier, faster, handle, more comfortable whatever. Joe public does not know the difference between 3.0, 4.4, or 4.8. So what I am getting at is a special vehicle greatly deminishes the potential buyers for the vehicle and as we all now with the laws of supply and demand that is going to affect your pricing. Your SAV is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. One of my buddies who turned me on to the X5, purchased his just four months ago, a 2000 4.4i Dinan stage 3 for $25,900 with 69K on it. The seller, a doctor, had it up for 7 months and had three phone calls. Original asking price was $31,500.

When you start talking serious loot like $50K plus for a used vehicle that is no longer stock your potential customer base is very small. If your not desperate to sell and you can get it exposed to the right people who know what they are looking at the chance for making a transaction in your desired amount increases a great deal. But hey....if I had an extra 50K burning a hole in my pocket I would fork it over...nice truck dude!

From my experience I think you're very optimistic about the price. One of the issues with having a Dinan car is that you (or a BMW dealer) won't be able to CPO it.... Dinan has offered CPO via selected Dinan/BMW dealers but I haven not find any reference to it recently.
4.6 prices have fallen quite a bit and 03 models have sold for low 50s , I also would caution you not to expect a lot of money to regain from the mods.

u mite want to remove all your mods then sell the x5 as stock again, ull get more selling the mod by them self... but good luck... sorry but u never get back what u put in

taking the modes apart and replace them with the stocks can most likely help you gain some bucks than just selling as is. Just a suggestion, good luck!

thats what i thought....all things considered, and only having about 10k left i owe to bmw on the x5, i mite just keep it in the end and move on w/ the next car....

$60K - not a lot of folks going to pay over that if they can get a 4.8is new for $70K. there may be someone out there that does not agree, it is just a matter of finding that person and getting the deal in front of them. I agree that this could take some time.
