FS: 2002 X5 4.6is - Estoril on Black/Silver Alcantara, 98k, CLEAN
Asking $20k, vehicle is in Minneapolis, MN Model Details: The E53 X5 4.6iS was a special edition vehicle produced in low numbers (less than 1500) by BMW to show the performance capabilities of the E53 chassis. It has the same M62B46 V8 which was originally designed by Alpina for the E39 B10. This smooth V8 makes 340hp and 355 ft/lbs of torque and is mated to a 5 speed Steptronic automatic transmission with specially tuned shifting parameters and a high-stall torque converter. The added power along with a 3.91:1 final drive ratio (3.64 in the standard V8) allow for 0-60 times in the low 6 second range and excellent drivability with it's broad torque range. Other performance highlights of the X5 4.6is are it's specially tuned suspension, with adjustable air ride in the back, sport springs up front and stiffer anti roll bars. The brakes are larger than the standard X5s, with 14" vented rotors up front necessitating standard 20" wheels with meaty Z-rated 275/40 front and 315/35 rear performance tires. To give an idea of it's level of performance, this thing had faster slalom speeds than the same model year Mercedes E55 AMG, and outbrakes a 911 Carerra from 70mph by 4 feet (C&D). And of course to go along with the go, BMW added a little show. Along with the 20" wheels, the 4.6iS came equipped with a body colored aero package on the front and back lower bumpers, shadowline trim, flared rear wheel arches and dual oval exhaust tips. Inside, the 4.6is came standard with every available option except for navigation, rear air bags, and a sliding load floor. This particular vehicle has all of those as well. Unique to the 4.6iS are the grey-faced M gauges with disappearing oil temp indicators, M Sport steering wheel, and the black nappa leather seats with black and silver cube alcantara inserts. It had approximately 6000 miles on it when it went to the dealer auction. We were looking for this specific color and option package and were very happy that our salesperson found the vehicle for us. It went through the CPO program and was delivered to us in fall of '03. It's life since then has been an easy one. It was used primarily for my mom to get to and from work, about 15 miles round trip. The occasional trip around the city or further to St Cloud or Ely, MN let it spread it's wings a bit. Garage-kept although winter driven, it has always been washed once a week or so and thoroughly cleaned/detailed as needed. The vehicle had very few issues during it's warranty period, and other than basic maintenance and a set of control arms it had little dealership service. Since then, we have taken it to Orr Autosport exclusively. Major maintenance has always been completed, in the past 6k or so it has had the valley pan, water pump, alternator, battery, valve cover gaskets, fluid leaks and some other things completed. As it sits today, it is in full working condition other than a malfunctioning parking sensor. We will probably have it fixed soon. Full records are available if needed. It drives like an absolute dream and the chassis is still very tight and solid. It has been thoroughly maintained as a vehicle like this should be. Cosmetically, it is nearly perfect save for some rock chips and an unrepaired scratch on the rear 1/4 panel. There have been a few panels resprayed, always by top body shops. The tailgate was done during the CPO process through Motorwerks BMW. The front driver door was redone when a semi truck wandered into the lane my mom was in and it took out the driver's side mirror. The mirror was replaced under insurance and the door was repainted at Sears Imports Body Shop to repair the scratches. Another incident occurred when a driver turned into my mom's lane and dented the front driver's fender and scratched the wheel. Both were replaced with oem by Sears Body Shop, and the hood and bumper was also resprayed to mend rock chips. The scratch on the rear 1/4 panel is from my mom backing into a trash can. Not sure if it will be repainted or not as it is relatively minor. I'm thinking of having John Biesecker touch it up as he did a great job with a similar scratch on our 850i. Something we could probably do for the new buyer if necessary. The interior is very very clean, and my mom was very particular about it, let alone the whole car. Not much to be said other than that, it is very very nice. That pretty much sums it up for now. We have a 3-ring binder with all records, both keys, manuals, etc. I think I also have some spares. It is an awesome vehicle and I want it to go to a good home. Pictures: As it sits today: Other photos (not actual vehicle) Here is an example of the interior upholstery - black nappa with alcantara inserts on the seats and doors. The blue trim pictured is light silver on our car - same as the door handles. Although this X5 does not have a tow bar installed, mine does, and I can tell you they are frikkin awesome tow vehicles:
