I bought a pair of them (OEM) on eBay for about $60 shipped. If you look around you might even find them cheaper, but I recommend OEM for the reasons you have cited.

Yeah, CFMISTRY, 60 is a bit much, i saw some for 65 used. I think i can get brand new ones for that price! The problem I saw were it was made of a cheaper plastic, not hard plastic, so it can crack. Secondly, the non oem's the lip opposite the end of the spring, was not raised or cut out properly so it wouldn't catch the metal edge, I took of the rubber gasket to give it more clearance and it held better. But its obvious these are not to specs. I had thought about spray painting the amber's with spray can but wonder if they paint would stick and stay?

FWIW, me OEM's are stamped FER.
The like OEM replacements were stamped FER. I paid less than $13.50 each for them...but this was also the intention that I am refreshing various pieces of the vehicle which would not be in my hands shortly... The O Ring that holds the bulb socket was 2X thicker on the OEM. Subjectively, the gasket itself was thicker... Mine snapped in and is SNUG.... |

BMW E53 X5 GENUINE SIDE CLEAR WHITE TURN SIGNAL LAMPS: eBay Motors (item 370388334538 end time Oct-12-10 12:10:05 PDT)
That is what I'm talking about (that was the one I bought!). They are OEM BMW, brand-new, about $60 shipped. But if I had known about chefwong's experience I might have swayed that way. -Cyrus |

I recently bought a large stash of misc parts. All were OEM except for trunk struts and sidemarker lights. The trunk struts was def. cheaper than OEM and the sidemarker lights if I recall were slightly cheaper than the OEM's. The only reason I went with these was to make the order a certain $$$ figure for Free shipping.
With that said, I think they're fine...but this is not a keeper decision for me, so maybe the extra $$ is worth it for the thicker gaskets. YMMV |
