Anyone in the New York area know of a good place to take the X to have the engine cleaned?

Buy some engine degreaser and do it yourself. Nothing overly complicated.

nah wd 40 the crapp outta it then hit it with the hose !!

i tried the wd-40 and hit it with a high pressure hose. started the engine. it made a few weird sounds and died. any idea what could be causing this?

You got water in the electrical system or connecter
