it did not damage mine. but i used it only on the really black and crummy parts like inside the tips and around the edges. everything else comes off with regular polish  |
Naz24, did you mention your steel 4.4i tips? We can't use sandpaper to sand chrome tips finished at all.

Well, my moms tips were pretty messed up. they were all black and i tried all the products. i only used the sandpaper around the edges and it was 1500-2000 grit sandpaper. It actually worked perfectly.. |

this is what i did to my 4.4 exhaust pipes if anyone was interested. the work that i put on the 4.6 pipes was not nearly like this. just around the edges and really dark spots as i mentioned |
with the right chemicals -- aka, nothing abrasive, it can be dealt with. With some elbow grease and some OTC chrome polish, it should come off fine (on the interior and inside lip). However, due to heat....on the exterior, a solvent IMO is quicker and less harsh.
NO flame intended, but I don't like to give advice unless it's sound advice. I recall years back in the days there was a poster *not on this forum* asking for help on paint and I swear someone recommending along the lines of start with 100 grit, then 200 grit, etc --- in a jokingly oxymoron way --- and the original poster took the advise immediate and f'ed up his paint... and just to QUAD post, please do no take Easy Off anywhere near your car. It is caustic stuff. Even in HOME USE, wear proper protection please. I'd hate to even imagine what stain it would leave on overspray on rubber trim. |
