I should have know better then to grab a rubber stripper product from WalMart.
Unreal a tire prep product from Turtle Wax that actually eats aluminium wheels has NO warning on the box. They never verified that during formula development phase??? If I had HRE or Fiske uncoated wheels, they would have been sent back for manufacturer cutting/polishing, the invoice would be fowarded to Turtle Wax with a letter from my attorney. |

https://www.turtlewax.com/docs/defau...lack-tire-coat First red flag when looking at the directions on the box is to wear eye protection and chemical resistant gloves. That tells me its not good on bare aluminum. They should have a warning to tape off your wheels when applying. If you want a Tire Bonding treatment that's water/polymer based and safe for future reference, try out Optimum Polymer Technologies (OPT) Opti-Bond Tire Gel. |
The box recommends gloves for the coating product only, no warnings for the cleaner product!
I posted a review on TW website (it needs to clear mod, doubt it will)........ https://www.turtlewax.com/shop/produ...-tire-coat-kit |
If it recommends gloves for the coating product I'd be even more wary about whats in the cleaner lol.

Yeah, I only purchased the kit for the rubber cleaner product (removing mold release from new tires). Had no intention of using the coating stuff.

My comment posted to Turtle Wax webpage (the cleaner discolors uncoated aluminium wheels) was never cleared by the moderator. The website is 100% fanboy comments!!!
Well done Turtle Wax!!! Sell a tire cleaning product that discolors/etches aluminium (with NO warnings), then dump comments that might let other customers know to avoid products that cause damage. |
