Bluetooth -522 ULF installed in 2001 X5!
Also, X5Monkey got his Bluetooth Retrofit kit from Bimmernav last year and had nothing but good things to say about Martin. Anyhow, I will post install pics later. Just like Ucrew's car, I needed an ext. cable for my eject box....so Martin made a custom one because the dealers did not stock them and also apparently they can't sell them for the US. I also got the 25 pin to 54 pin adaptor for ULF module. I also extended the UHF ant. cable and Martin did supply a FARKA to UHF adaptor so the new eject box would work with the ant connection in my 2001 X5. My Treo 650 was recognized and pair, but I didn't have time to leave it on to transfer the "FAVORITES" phone book over. I'll do that later and if not, I'll re-pair the phone again. I want to give props to Martin Bishop, Ucrew, and SuperGreg for all their help and advice.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it! And yes, Martin Bishop will definitely help out in any way he can. Bought my 522 module from him as well.

Looks great Doc, congrats!!!
Two things: 1. Purchase the ULF mounting bracket. They are pretty inexpensive, easy to install, and it will give that factory installed look. The ULF module will be out of sight. 2. Please clean that dash. It looks like someone let loose a pack of dust bunnies in there |

Thanks for the Kudos. I am happy to help anytime. I have developed a bit of knowledge playing with this stuff for the last few years, plus it helps that I used to work for QUALCOMM in the cellular phone division as a cellular phone product manager. I am happy to share what I have learned with others who are passionate about these cars as well.
It really puts a smile on my face when I drive around in either our 03 X5, or 01 E38 that has more BMW factory toys than the 2006 equivalents. I am sure that others feel the same way and am happy to help them get the latest and greatest stuff installed in their BMWs as well. Although after carefully revieing your pictures, I think I should add one more part to the Bluetooth kits..... Good luck with it. And I am happy to help! Martin |

Yeah, X5 has been neglected...all the attention re: detail, etc. has gone to the M3....
The ULF mounting bracket won't work because I have too much crap there (no place for the ULF module....my Phoenix Gold 200 watt amp for the subwoofer is where the ULF module would have gone) SG, since you all tons of time, just commute over to my office and you can detail it!! Quote:

Martin,
Thanks again for everything. The darn 5 megapixel digital camera picks up everything! I am going to post more install pics later. Anyhow, I updated a post re: address transfer on the Verizon Treo 650 in this forum. Quote:

Pics of the BT ULF -522 install
Okay, here are the pics of the install. My X5 is a 02/01 production date and BMW did not extending the cable to the eject box area. Martin made a custom ext. cable which saved the day. The dealers don't stock them and they can't order it anymore in the US.
You can see my CPT8000 eject box which has not connector, but long wires that go down deep down below the center console which goes under the parking brake handle area.

As you can see, I got too much stuff in the left rear cargo area. Has all the neat A/V stuff and where the BT ULF usually goes is where my amp is.....Hope this helps for anyone with a 2001 X5.
