Blue Tooth on 2004 X5 4.8is and Treo 700w

Hello All:
I have a 2004 BMW X5 4.8is. I was talking to the Service Technician to install a Blue tooth / BMW assist control module from 2005 in order to be able to have both the options. I found out that BMW support the Palm O/S used on the Treo 650 etc, but does not support the Treo 700w using Windows Mobile 5.0 Operating system.

I spoke with BMW Customer relations and they said their Engineers work to retrofit newer phones to older vehicles. My concern becomes "What if it takes too long before they find a solution. Then they might spend the time, energy and money to invest for older vehicles".

So, has anyone successfully paired a Treo 700w using a Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system on a 2004 BMW using the 2005 Bluetooth/BMW Assist control without compromising the Blue tooth or the BMW Assist?

Please share your experience. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Laxmi
