Snap-In Adapter question...

I did the retrofit on my 2004 with Assist and changed it to the Bluetooth only module. I finally got a hold of a snap-in adapter for my phone (K750).

Question is:
The snap-in charges just fine but I don't think the car's external antenna is working. The reception bars keep fading. How can I check? Is the handset supposed to have full reception the second it's plugged in? I remember being able to check the reception with my Assist but I can't anymore with my bluetooth only module.

Thanks in advance.

I have to push hard to get mine to connect. I think there is a little ridge to 'click' the antenna in and this pushes the connector away unless I am firm.

To check the reception, look at your phone while it is plugged in and view # of bars

My '06 came with Bluetooth and BMWAssist - I've ordered the phone tray for my E815 - the dealer also ordered an antennae that fits in the bumper to go with it (7/5 install date) - I asked if this was needed and she said it was on the list for the phone cradle install - I'll know more Thursday, but maybe that's why you are losing signal????

If you keep assist and add the snap in you need to add a second antenna. I installed the bumper mounted antenna and the reception is very good when the phone is cradled. Install isn't too tough.

I didn't retain assist; I just have bluetooth module not the combo. I don't think I should have to add a second antenna but I thought I was supposed to get another bar or so of reception which I don't and maintain the same exact antenna reception regardlaess if it is plugged in or not...

i feel your pain. in my case the signal will sometimes even disappier when the phone is cradled and that's in the middle of the city

i have the same feeling that the external antenna is either not working or not properly connected to the phone's antenna connector.

Where did you get the adaptor? I have the SEW810i and I understand the adaptor you purchased will work with my phone?

Have a look at my thread: SONY ERICSSON SNAP IN CRADLE. I have listed the part number and YES it does fit the W810i.
