Bluetooth, MOST, CAN-Bus, and iBus systems

Nothing other than pairing. The e61 is not altered or updated in any way. If you cannot get the phone to pair, I would recommend switching phones or upgrading the ULF to the 10th Generation version which does support it (from testing).

what would be the total cost of ownership on this 10th gen. ulf replacement? is the old one worth anything to sell back on the market? mine's gotta be pretty recent, jul production z4m coupe.

Someone will want your old module, but it will have to be coded to the new vehicle by BMW.

Here is the ULF you need:

BMW Bluetooth "546" 9th Generation ULF Module

You will lose BMW Assist (worthless feature IMHO) but have the newest BT technology available as they were released only a few weeks ago. The website still states 9th Generation, we are shipping 10th Generation modules/kits.

Just to make things more confusing than they already are....There are actually 6 Bluetooth systems from BMW, which are ALL slightly different.

1) BMW Assist/Bluetooth Ibus TCU (starting in late 05 they had male voice recognition). This is the system you get when ordering assist in the US 2006 X5, E46, Z4 (1 version for US CDMA and one for ECE GSM) This module was made by Motorola

2) BMW Assist/Bluetooth MOST TCU system from the new Body style BMWs with MOST bus. This is the system you get when ordering assist in the US e60, e90 ect (1 version for US CDMA and one for ECE GSM) This module was made by Motorola

3) BTUM stupid little dongle deal for cars with the CPT9000 phone system. (only for the US market)

4) BMW Assist /bluetooth for E65. This is only for the E65/E66, but similar to the MOST TCU (1 version for US CDMA and one for ECE GSM) This module was made by Motorola

5) BMW ULF module. I-bus This is the retrofit system that everyone knows. It is the best option for people wanting Bluetooth. no coding needed, bluetooth and full voice recognition. Current version P/N 130 10th Gen (latest version only a couple weeks old) X5, X3, E46, E39, E38, Z8, Z4 (This module was made by Visteon)

6) BMW MULF module MOST bus ULF module. This is the retrofit system for the New body style BMWs. It works great, but needs coding due to fiber optic system in new body style BMWs. P/N 290 is latest version (only a couple weeks old) E60, E63, E90 (This module was made by Visteon)

I've been following the trafffic on the ULF and voice recognition and have a couple of questions. First though, my X3 is a European Delivery US model with the premium package, the BMW Assist (ZPP/639) and also the Navigation system. I used the BT capability in Germany with a Motorola V551 phone. It was paired for me at the Munich delivery center.

I have been able to get VR for the phone, but not with the Nav. The system turns off if I try any Nav commands. Also, I think that my ULF (doesn't say ULF anywhere I can tell) which is mounted in the left rear with the Nav computer is made by "Everest." Here's what's on the label on the module as well as what I was provided for "pairing" when the car was delivered.

To the left of these numbers are the BMW and Motorola Logos and the name Motorola. Also the system console under settings has the following in the upper right part of the screen:

The module appears to be like the picture on this site; looks like there is an antenna connection, etc.

Also my center console does not look like any of the photos I've seen on this site and there are no screws under the rubber pad at the bottom. When the car was re-delivered here in California, my rep tried to get the parts dept to give us the part numbers for the parts required to mount the phone for charging and better antenna. But we were quoted almost $500 for the parts, so I decided to wait.

Can anyone help me understand what I have for a ULF(?) and what parts I need to install the phone in the car. Also, what do I have to do to get the Nav system to accept VR commands.
