2005 X3 Voice Control Question

I tried the search function and did not find the answer I need on this point. Sorry in advance if it has already been covered...

I have 2 2005 X3's with Assist, NAV and DSP. They have BT that works fine. Production date for one is March 2005 and the other is April 2005. The April car has voice control functioning but the March car does not. I seem to recall reading somewhere that they switched BT manufacturers for April 05 production which might explain the difference. Is that right?

Any other thoughts how to get VR working in the March 05 car?

Do both of your cars have the premium package?

Yes. They are identical in every way (color, options, etc...) with the sole exception being one is stick and one is automatic.
