Treo 680 Saga

Well I made the error of trying to pair and use my Treo680 with my bluetooth retrofit with what turned out to be a 1st gen ULF module and the phone would hardly pair 2 of of 20 attempts correctly then would NEVER see the BMW ULF. Anyway I finally got the phone working well let me re-phrase that.. I had to get a whole new cell phone from Cingulair but I was up for an upgrade so it worked out okay as I got a new phone for 50% off and I wasn't fully in love with the Treo680 (lots of issues with it from wouldn't synch then would synch, would crash and freeze a lot when making calls or just in basic use). Then I found out last night doing research on the forums that it uses the old bluetooth standard 1.2 while most newly released phones use bluetooth 2.0. Why would Palm do that is beyond me.

Anyway the sales guy at Cingulair walked out to the vehicle with me and we tried a Blackberry Pearl, Blackberry 8100 and a Cingular 8525. All paired successfully and the ULF recognized them after a minute or two. Basically we had to turn the car off and on again and do the same with the phone(s) but so far the phone has worked every time and has transferred numbers and directory without a hitch. I ended up purchasing the Cingular 8525 as Palm just totally has disappointed me at this point. Didn't use the or try the Samsung Blackjack although it looked really nice and I wanted to but the BT Forums and advice have said it just didn't work that well. So hope this helps out anyone else with a Treo680 as I had scant info found on searches myself with this particular model and the BMW ULF Bluetooth systems.
