Thumbs up NEW,,,VERIZON (Motorola E815) BLUETOOTH PHONE

Motorola has just released the E815 phone to Verizon, it is presently available for $149.00 less discounts etc.

Has anyone out there switched to this new phone and tried it in in their X5 with the -114 TCU??

From what I've read, this phone is "supposed to" address a number of the problems that the V710 had, the question will be, "What has Verizon toyed with"?

The paste below is off the Verizon store site, the line of text, "It does not support all object exchange (OBEX) profiles" is a concern for phonebook transfer???

If anyones tried this phone I'd appreciate the feedback.

thanks ......PeterD

Since they have disabled OBEX, then the phonebook likely won't transfer (assuming the phone pairs at all).

If anyone picks one of these up, let us know how it works with the BMW systems.

Actually, the V710 also has OBEX disabled, but it pairs fine with the -114. But, we'll need to see if the E815 will pair up. When I have time, I can check with Custom Cellular to see if the E815 will pair up with my BT/Assist module. So far, I have paired the V710 and Verizon's Treo 650 fine with the -114. The phonebook transfers fine on both the VZW V710 and VZW Treo 650 with the -114

I'm hoping that the "all" in their (It does not support all object exchange (OBEX) profiles) text means that Verizon hasnt completely screwed the Object Exchange with this new phone like they did to several features of the V710.

If they have, I'm going to dump Verizon and go with with V635 via Cingular.

Anyone know anyway to get accurate info from Verizon on whats been done to the phone???

Hmmm....check out www.howardforums.com or www.v710.org (go to E815 central) or www.phonescoop.com

Good luck.
