Problems with Razr phone book

I have an 2005 X3 and a Razr V3 that I was able to pair fairly easily.

The problem, I believe, is that my phone book never loaded. When I manually dial a number on the phone itself, it works throught the car's bluetooth system. Also, if I get an incoming call, I can answer it via the in-car system, by pushing the blue tooth talk button on my steering wheel.

However, If i want to make a voice dialed outgoing call...and I push the BT button on the steering wheel, I get prompted for a phone number. When I respond with the recored name or the speed dial number I have stored on the phone (not on the phone's SIM card), the system always tells me (in a woman's voice) it can't complete the call as dialed and it gives me an error code, plus a strange number on the radio readout..something like 100016..but even longer.

Other times, when it prompts me for the number, it then tells me "no phone book loaded" or "no phone book available"-- and it does this in a male voice, not a female voice!!

Does anybody know what's going on? I love the Razr and the car, but I'm not getting the value of this feature...and I can't believe BMW doesn't have a user manual for its bluetooth system (please don't refer me to their crappy bluetooth web site .. it tells you nothing!).

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!

Hi Don, :welcome: to X5world.

Not sure why you're having difficulty with your Razr in your X5. Most people report that setup is very stable and has good phone book transfer capabilities.

Here's an electronic version of the owners manual - http://www.bmwmotorsports.org/pdf/B8...ManualIBUS.pdf

Thanks, I'll Check Out The Manual you Posted a Link For..

I look it over. One thing, I have an X3 not an X5, so will this manual still apply?
