2001 e39 bimmernav bluetooth retrofit issue
Hi all,
I recently received my order for a e39 bluetooth retrofit kit (1/97 - 01/00 and 01/00-2/02) Im having some issues making it work though and wonder if you anyone has any ideas? The vehicle was manufactured in 09/2001 and came prewired wired with a motorola car phone already. I bought the car recently and wanted to add the missing bluetooth functionality. I replaced the standard mic witht he upgraded one from the kit. I removed the gold coloured motorola box from the central armrest area and installed the new bluetooth blank with pairing button in the central armrest. In the trunk/boot the RS232 was easily found plugged into another large black plastic motorola box along with an earial booster unit, I removed the rs232 connector and the three pin power and two FAKRA connectors from the booster unit. I plugged the RS232 plug into the supplied RS232->54 pin ULF connecotr wiring harness (this has a amplfier module attached too). I connected the bluetooth aerial to the ULF and turned ignition on. The problem is there is no display of "telephone" on the TV screen anymore (it was there before with the motorola kit) I can press the talk button in the centre armrest and it beeps and/or says "system off". The only deviation from the supplied instructions was that I was unable to find any blue connector with white lever to connect to the SES plug, do all vehicles have this? Would this stop the bluetooth working or only the voice recognition? I also have a traffic master unit fitted into a MKIV satnav unit if this makes any difference. Any help would be appreciated, thanks all Ian PS Ive emailed bimmernav as well but they havent had time to respond yet either. |
