Unhappy Lost Phonebook?

Picked up my new X5 earlier this week. Paired my Bluetooth phone with the X5, and the process went perfectly. Phonebook downloaded within a couple of minutes. Continued to work great for the next couple of days.

When I drove the car this morning, my phonebook was missing! I know the Bluetooth connection is working fine because I can make a call by dialing the phone number manually using the radio/on-board computer buttons. Also, I noticed that the yellow light next to the "TEL" button on the on-board computer interface was lit up.

I turned off my phone for a couple of minutes then powered it back on to see if that would fix things. But still no phonebook entries.

Any ideas what is causing this and how to fix it? Thanks!

With the Visteon module (pre-2004) the phonebook in my V600 is re-uploaded every time the phone bonds with the ULF. I suspect that the Motorola BT/Assist module works the same way, but I'm not certain.

Well, I got in the X5 at lunch today to drive to a meeting. The problem appears to have corrected itself. My entire phonebook was available via the steering wheel buttons as well as the radio/onboard computer display. Everything worked fine. Strange, but I'm not complaining.

Hey Brad,

Fellow Atlantan here. You can pair up to 4 phones with the system. If two or more of the paired phone are on and within range (~30ft.) of the car when started, the phone which was paired first will take priority and be the functioning phone. Therefore, every time you turn the car on, the Bluetooth system looks for a paired phone. Also, when you start the car, the system uploads the phonebook for the chosen paired phone. That means (I think), that the phonebook uploads EVERY time the car is started. If you ever have trouble, you must restart the car- not the phone.
