Bluetooth retrofit to 2005 X5?
Have just got a 2005 X5 that has the sat nav system but does not have the phone functionality. BMW dealer quoted thousands to add in Bluetooth. Any ideas on cheaper / easier ways to get my phone working in there? thanks. |

i was in the same boat, but i was lucky i found a BT module cheap, then just bought the add-ins, as my car was already pre-wired for everything.
you sure you dont already have the car pre-wired? |

Hi, mine seems to have every extra except for Bluetooth. Have checked with dealer and it's not there. I will check again to see if the wiring is there though.
I think I have found a cheap option of simply installing a separate BT unit (Parrot 3000); this should mute the radio and come through the speakers (and is only c.£100) but I won't get my address book etc up on the sat nav screen (this would be extra £2k for BMW to retrofit their BT system in which is hard to justify simply to use the screen!)....Any thoughts? |

Here's another option, especially if streaming music from your phone is a desirable feature. You need the AUX input on your X5 which, IIRC, is about a $50 option from BMW.
