Thanks for the info. I have the same phone. My dealer told me that Symbian phones don't upload phonebooks. Will try what you did.
Where did you download the software from?

Follow these instructions:
------------------------
1) Delete both pairing between ur phone and the car.
2) Move the contacts u want into ur SIM card.
3) Download Nokia Contact Download Application from here http://europe.nokia.com/A4143881 and install it.
4) Run Nokia contact download application.
5) Pair ur phone with the car and wait 2min until the phone book on the SIM Card uploaded.

what i did in order not to transfer numbers to sim:

i started the pairing process in the car, but instead of searching the car from my phone, i choose to send contacts (all) via bluetooth.

the phone found the car (the car was in BT pairing mode, remember?) and i chosen to transfer all the numbers into the car.

it worked with e53 ericsson t39m - but it might work with other cars/phones.

no harm in trying

Well information about symbian software phone does not seem to be right as I am successfully using E90 phone with all possible features including phone book, missed calls, top 8 and recent calls. There is no SMS function support thogh.

If you chose to transfer phone book instead then you will have to do it every time you change the phone. Best option is to check the OE software version on the phone (in case of Nokia *#0000#) note down software details and then check on Nokia website latest version for your phone. Upgrading to newest software shall solve your pairing and phone book transfer problem. You will also notice improved sound/voice quality.

I am successfully using Nokia E90, E71 and Apple iphone.

All the best,

)))nadeem(((

The same problem. I have new X3 2009 with Radio BMW Business CD with Bluetooth option and Nokia E90 phone with newest sw. Bluetooth pairing succeeds and phone calls can be made and recieved. But I have not succeeded in loading the contact info from SIM card to the car phone. I have tried all possible means found in these forums - incl. Nokia's forum - no success.

I hope there is somebody who could help and advice me.

Hi All

Replying by myself. With John's advice (see Symbian Developer Network Forums : BMW Bluetooth CarKit integration ... ) I succeeded in loading the phonebook items to my car (SA 644). Thanks John!

The solution is not complete but a lot better than nothing.

I've paired a Nokia N95 8Gig and transferred contacts with no problems. Once your phone is paired up you need to set car BT to 'pairing mode' again. Then send your contacts to the car as 'Business Cards'. The cars BT should accept and store them.

If this doesnt work or you have connection issues try a couple of things:

1) If you have a lot of text messages stored on the phone delete some/all as this causes BT problems between the car/phone.

2) If you have repeated issues re-set the cars BT and then re-pair your phone(s).
You do this holding BT button in centre console down > switch ingnition on (same method as pairing phone) but then keep BT button in console depressed for 10 secs until you hear 3 beeps. System is now clear of all phones and ready for you to pair your first phone again. Once paired try sending contacts by business card method.

I've paired a Nokia 6500 slide and Nokia N85 8 gig to the same X3. The 6500 contact info was displayed without needing to be transferred over, the N95 contacts needed to be done manually.

I had to reset the cars BT system and delete texts from both phones, but once that was done they have worked perfectly since.

HTH.
