Treo 650 and x5 BT

My local Verizon store assigned one of their techs to try to pair a Treo 650 to my 2005 x5. After getting the phone and car to more-or-less recognize each other, the tech tried dialing a number. The car dialed, but before the phone could connect, the phone turned off. This happened several times. I should add that the BT is working fine with a Cingular Motorola that is successfully paired with the car.

So...does anyone have a suggestion? Or does anyone know when Verizon/Palm will provide the software patch to allow the Verizon version of the Treo 650 to properly pair? Does anyone know whether the soon-to-be-released Treo 700 will be an approved phone?

The BMW does not pair with any of the current windows based pda, so I do not thinki it will work with the Treo 700?

The Treo 650 from Sprint pairs. It is BMW approved. It would be nice if Verizon moved quickly to do the software patch needed for pairing. As for the Treo 700 - I have heard rumblings that with the new Windows OS, that Palm and Microsoft have put new programming into the bluetooth module of the Treo 700, and that it might be compatible. I am hoping one of you has heard something definitive.

I was able to get it to pair with a Verizon XV6600...Windows PDA cell phone...worked great with it.

My 2004 M3 pairs fine with my VZW Treo 650. I just paired it up. Now, I do have the motorola BT/Assist module -114, if that helps.

Dear Pepatrick - your Audiovox xv-6600 paired with a 2005 x5? How did you do that?
Do you have all of the functions?

Can you point me to the BMW site that says "The Treo 650 from Sprint pairs. It is BMW approved?" I would appreciate it

Dear Quicksilver

The site is bmwtransact.com/bluetooth/faq.htm

When you get to the site, click on the upper-rightmost item....I think it says approved phones, or something like that. You'll see the list of approved phones for bmw, and then look under the Sprint line. The second phone listed is the Treo 650.

Thanks for responding, but I am really a dolt when it comes to this. Would you kindly take a moment and explain the issues. For example, would the Audiovox xv6600 have a 'stronger' bluetooth than the Treo? More easily paired?

I did look at the website you noted, but to little avail other than that it lists the approved phones.
