Trouble Pairing with 04 X3

Hey guys I have an 04 x3 with BMW assit. When I hit the RT button on the steering wheel the basic radio says phone book empty. I have a card in my glove box with my BT PK but can get the car in pairing mode for the life of me. Can anyone help me with this? I have a blackberry 8900.
Thanks,
David

First, these are the pairing instructions. http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...tooth-ulf.html

However, based on BMW TSB SI B84 13 04, you probably do not have Bluetooth. According to the TSB, these are the X3 models with Bluetooth "E83 (X3) from 9/04 production with Premium Package (ZPP) or BMW Assist (SA 639)." Furthermore, there is another statement in the TSB that says "E46, E83, E85 and E53 vehicles produced between 3/2004 and 8/2004 are equipped with a TCU that does not support Bluetooth. On these vehicles, the TCU can be replaced at the customer's expense with a 2005 MY TCU."

So, unless your TCU has been upgraded, you most likely do not have Bluetooth. The plus is that a TCU swap is very easy to do yourself for around $325. Then, you would need to take it to a dealer for coding.

Ok, its looking like I don't have it. So even tho I have the card with a BT passkey I still might not have the required hardware?
THanks,
David

Yup, I think that there was a hardware issue in the first year of the BT/TCU production. The labels on the parts indicate BT, and the cars came with the BT passkey cars. However, the feature was inop. BMW acknowledged the lack of BT in multiple technical service bulletin documents, and informed the dealers of an upgrade path for customers who wanted BT.
