Help with Bluetooth please!
Hi all, I have read so much on the bluetooth on these forums and articles that I googled and I still cannot get mine to pair. Here is how far that I got- My phone found my car and it said BMW and then the 5 digits from my VIN, I typed in the PK code from the card in my manual and it searched for a little bit and says pairing failed.
I asked one of my friends whose husband is a service manager but to far for me to take my car to and he said I am doing everything right but maybe the silver box in the back left of my car is bad and to take it to the dealer and they will check the diagnostics. I am under warranty til 8-30-09. Just wondering what people think about this or if there is anything else that I can try. I have a new LG env3 phone which is an approved bmw phone.

What year is the car? Do you have a ULF or a TCU? Only the later TCUs work for BT. Look for posts by Brian-BMW here or by Brian on the bimmerboard.com BT forum. He is a BT expert.

Since it is under warranty and you have an approved phone, I would take the car to the dealer with the phone in hand. It sounds like you are doing everything right. The phone and car are seeing each other which is very positive. It could be tha that the passkey you have is wrong-- that is my bet. The dealer can read the passkey from their diagnostics computer and confirm it.
On an aside, the passkey is usually only 4 digits, and they have nothing to do with the VIN. So, if you enter the passkey, just look for and enter the four digit code.

Ok not to sound dumb, but I am a female here, how do I know if my car is ULF or TCU?
I have no idea what that is. ps- the PK code on my card is 4 digits but no luck. I am hoping that it is something simple like the code is wrong.

Did you ever get this to work..? My wife has a Envy3 and a gen 12 ULF and it never has worked. I'm been tempted to try it in my 06X5 which (I think) has a TCU, but havent had time. Just wondering if you ever found resolution..? Thanks ED |

I had the same problem, the code in the manual was not working, so I looked on the BT unit and found that it was different, the unit must have been changed for some reason, and was not updated on the manual.
