06 Non Nav Help

I recently bought an 06 X5 and am having issues with the bluetooth. I have searched these and other forums but can't seem to find the answers and the manual that came with the vehicle didn't match up to the radio/computer I have.

I'm trying to figure out how to access the bluetooth menu in order to turn off bluetooth or delete paired devices. To me this seems to be a common question but I can't seem to find the answer. What does everyone do if you are in the vehicle with other people and want to take a private call. My manual depicts a BT option in the phone menu; however, I only see signal strength and a call timer. Also, how do you pair a 2nd device? Sorry for the long post. Does anyone have a link to a user guide or some advice?

Thanks,

T

Hi Floydtp,
Sorry i can't be much help considering I don't even have BT in my 06 X5, but what if you turn BT off on your cellphone when you need to take private calls. That's what i would try.
I have a few questions about your X5 if you don't mind...

Do you have a ULF or TCU, is it located in the cargo area, latch compartment on
drivers side?
Do you have steering wheel buttons and SOS button on the head panel?
Do you have center console pairing button?
Do you have Ipod plug in the golve compartment?
Just really curious and trying to figure out what type of retrofit I will go with. Thanks for help.

TCU location

There are many ways you can deal with this, turn the pairing off on the phone that you want to connect to. Aslo you may be able to get into the menu setting by selecting the phone icon sometimes mine gives me options and other times it does not. The other way is to disconnect the phone cable if you do not want to use the feature at all. This has been post several times but here you go, hope it helps. You have to remove the spare tire cover to access this which located below the cd changer you will need a 10mm socket to remove the plastica cover

Not sure if ULF or TCU as I don't know the difference, it was factory installed.
I have the talking head and R/T steering wheel buttons (sport wheel) and a SOS and Assist button on head panel.
There is no center console pairing button and I do have an Ipod plug in the glove compartment that was added by the previous owner.

From what I have read it sounds like you have a TCU or else you would have a pairing button in your center console. The TCU will send out a signal for the first two minutes after the the car is turned on. The phone you want to pair has to be set to BT on and discoverable, during that 2 min window. (in other words the phone has to find the car, the car doesn't find the phone). You should be able to link four different phones to your car. As far as how to delete them I'm not sure but if I come across it I'll let you know.

Two more questions if you get a chance,
What do you have in the upper compartment of your center console arm rest? Is it a simple looking pencil tray or something else?
Do you have the shark fin (needed for BMW assist) on the exterior of your X5?
Thanks Dani

It is the simple pencil tray. Also, I do not have the shark fin but do have BMW Assist as a factory installed option. Not sure why I don't have the fin if it is necessary.
