Bluetooth retrofit - works - but no audio!
I have a problem with my retrofitted bluetooth system. I've tried several forums on the net - searched for months for a solution - and still - I have no audio from my ULF. I'd really appreciate some help, guidance or good advices. The facts: E46 325i Sedan from 10/2001 (2002 model) (EUR model - no phone prewiring, hence no SES) ULF software version 11 Installed retrofit Kit No 84 64 0 153 221 No NAV. BMW Business CD The problem: I do not have any audio out from the ulf. People can hear me but I can't hear anything. The music mutes - and the display in the radio shows "PHONE". By coincidence I tried to reinstall my old BMW Business Cassette. And then - everything worked perfectly! I thought it might be the Business CD then - so I ordered a brand new from BMW. And still - when I install it - no audio out! So - I guess the wiring is okay - as it works like a charm with the cassette. But then - what could be wrong? I'd be really glad if you have any hints to what I might try, as I don't own any cassette tapes any more and going down trough europe without any other music than the radio isn't an option. Thanks in advance! |

When I fitted mine there were a couple of EBA retrofit guides floating around and I remember reading that if you get the pins wrong or something or other with the jumper plug you won't get sound.
Some sites say you need to remove the wheel sensor pins 7 (yellow with green tracer) and 8 (white with green tracer) from the ULF plug and run a separate voice jumper plug. I established that this was for US spec cars which already have BMW® assist voice recognition fitted to them them as standard. Therefore I didn't have to do this and I would suggest that you only have to do this if you have a US spec car. In my case the pins weren't in the ULF plug to remove and the voice jumper plug wasn't required. If the plug was required you'd have no audio output and if you didn't remove the pins your speedo and odometer wouldn't work. Thank you very much for your reply and for the helpful link. Unfortunately my car wasn't prepared for either BMW assist nor phone. I installed the wires as a part of the retrofit. And it wasn't the same retrofit-set as yours.
The 'funny' thing is that everything is working with the cassette player. So in some way I'm quite sure that the wiring is okay, except the audio doesn't come through. I suspect that some signal doesn't come through to the business cd, telling it to let in/out the audio. How will I know if TEL-ON is coming through to the radio - to the x13321 connector? |

okay, did you do a speaker upgrade? there are two 3" speakers with dual coils that the computer uses for bluetooth sound.
I'm getting mine re-installed next week, so I can finish my bluetooth retrofit

NO AUDIO
I am having a similar issue I believe!
I just retro fitted my 8/02 X5 with a 10th generation ULF module and I have my iPhone paired with it but I do not get the audible beep when I hold the "talking head" button and people can hear me but I can not hear them through the car's audio. What are these speakers? I did this retrofit in my 2/02 M3 without any problems... Please help |
