Bluetooth button in center cosole does not work

Hi Everyone!

I just bought a 10/2004 MY05 3.0L X5. This is my first post to Xoutpost, so please be gentle!

I have searched this forums, and other BMW forums but haven't found an answer for my bluetooth problem.

I cannot get the car into pairing mode. I am sure that the button in the center console does not work. If I press and hold it for a long time (10 seconds) I don't have any response.

If I do the sequence of
1. Hold button for 3 seconds
2. Turn key to position 1
3. Hold button for a further 3 seconds then release

I still get no response. I think that I have the ULF model. At least i have found the ULF module and bluetooth antenna in the trunk. When I hit the Telephone button on the radio or steering wheel it says "Activate phone".

I took the center console apart to have a look at the wiring and when I did I found the wiring loom with lots of cables. Then there are 2 separate cable which also attach the to one loom plug. However those cables have been cut, and are disconnected. I will post pictures of this soon.

Can anyone please help me out?
Does anyone have a wiring diagram of how the bluetooth system works?
Is there a way to reset the bluetooth system (I already disconnected the ULF module for 30 minutes)?
Is there any way to get the button in the center console to work?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Luke

Here is the photo of underneath the center console. You can see there are two black wire which each contain one pair of wires. One pair is white with green stripe/white with red stripe, the other is white/white with brown stripe. I have drawn a circle in red on the plug that shows where they used to be connected.

Does anyone know if these wires are required?
