i'm guessing this means i don't have bluetooth - [with pics]

So even though the X is a 2005, the build date is 10/2004. I'm guessing by the hole where the TCU should be (pics 1 & 2) that I don't have BT

Now from the reading I've done, it seems that I can just plug in a '05-newer TCU w/ VR turned on (or get the dealership to turn VR on once installed). Is that correct?

And I don't have SOS (pic 3).

You are correct. Tat 54 pin connector is for the TCU or ULF. Check if you need the SES jumper [audio bypass for SES connector].

How do I know if I need the SES jumper?

Also, I sent you a PM.

Have a google for pictures of the SES plug. It will have twisted pair audio connectors in the socket for the mic. Some have made an SES loopback using spares.
