Yes, that has BT. But, it does not have voice recognition. I highly encourage you to refer to the part number list back in the second post of this thread (http://www.xoutpost.com/760212-post2.html) to help confirm your TCU selection.

I think I found one...
I found a Motorola TCU at a local u pull it that I think will work. The part number is 84116946993. I've already verified that all of th witing is present adn have pulled the Assist module out...Hoping that I can replace it with this one. Just dont want to spend a few hundred dollars only to find out that it will not work. Wahts the downside on no voiceinput...I will be pairing it with an Iphone 3GS. Any comments/advice would be apreciated. |

No voice input means that you can not initiate calls via voice recognition. With voice recognition, you push and hold the "sneezing man" button and tell the car either a phone number or use name. Then, it talks to the phone and makes the call. I love it and use it almost exclusively to call out. Others don't like voice recognition and never use it. It is personal preference.

You can safely delete the word "probably" from that list. If it says "probably no" it really means "no Bluetooth." The author was just being conservative.
Here is the reasoning... 1) The first confirmed BT was found in modules that started manufacturing in September 2004 for the 2005 model year. 2) The list is in BMW supersession order (older modules in the supersession list are not going to have more features than newer modules). Module 84.10-9 12 0844 was confirmed not to have BT; therefore all earlier modules will not have it.

The TCU modules are all retroactively compatible in I-Bus cars as old as 1995. So, what you are really looking for is a TCU from a 2005 or newer X5, E46, X3 or Z4. Unless a previous owner did a retrofit, it is unlikely that you will find a TCU-BT module that will come from a 2004 model year X5. Therefore, shop specifically for one of these TCU part numbers. Which car or which year does not matter.
