Bluetooth issue

I have a 2006 X5 3.0 with Nav. I was able to pair a Blackberry Tour without any issues however, now it seems that once paired and bluetooth activated, the radio doesn't work. It is completely silent, no static etc. If the phone is turned off or if bluetooth is deactivated, the radio is functional again. Anybody have suggestions? By the way, it worked perfectly for several months.

The phone kit is holding the radio in mute. It thinks there is an active connection. This could be a setting or a bug in the phone. I know blackberrys don't give a lot of options for BT settings, but can you turn off "automatically connect the audio service"?

Yes, I am able to manually disconnect or turn off bluetooth and the radio comes back on? Very weird. I tried another Blackberry and it does the same thing? It worked perfectly for months before this issue surfaced.

Is the blackberry set to automatically connect the link? If it thinks it is a bluetooth headset, it will connect the audio and stay connected, leaving the car kit in mute. Note there is a difference between paired, paired and idle [connection parked], and connected.

That sounds like a problem with your telephone module in the car. The fact that demonstrates the same symptoms with two different phones ponits to the car. I did a quick search here and on another high-volume BMW Bluetooth site, and I did not see anything similar. You might try disconnecting the BT module and then reconnecting it to the car. Maybe that will kickstart it back to normal. Other than that, you may be in the queue for a replacement module.

Maybe check to make sure your BB isn't set to send audio? I've rented cars with Sync and GM's BT and they ask if you want to send audio. I know this is on the receiving end of the BT, but maybe the BB is confusing the BMW.

....or as Brian said, get in line (like me) for a new module.

Thank you; I will try to disconnect the BT module and see if it goes back to normal. I have an appt. on Weds at BMW to check it out.

By the way, any idea what a new BT module costs?
