Cant find 54pin or DB25 connector
I have just bought my first bimmer a 2002 x5 4.4i. I love it and have been researching about upgrading to bluetooth in it. I have option 640 according to the dealer but I cant find the 54pin or DB25 (the production date is right on the cutoff 2002-03-1. I have ripped the back of the car apart and only found the blue SES cable, a white 18 pin connector and a few smaller connectors.
Does anyone know what the white 18pin connector is and is there any weird locations they can hide the ULF connector?? I'll take some pics tomorrow of the connector and what other connector's I can find.

If you have the SES cable, can you trace it toward the rear of the car? The phone plug will be downstream of the SES as they share some cabling for the mic. The pics will help, the 18 pin white plug I can't place, unless it is for the TV. TV has a blue 18 pin plug also, you may be confusing this with the SES plug.

Here are the pics. I have the TV module installed already so I don't think its for that? I think maybe the smaller 3 pin might be from the microphone?

The three pin doodah is for the antenna compensator. As is the loose black FAKRA dead centre of this pic.
![]() Keep hunting, you will find the connector you seek, sometimes bundled in fabric tape against the harness. I think the white wire is for satellite radio, but I'm not sure as I'm not in the US. Follow the harness for the three pin connector and the SES module. They both lead to the phone connector harness. |

OK I traced the harness into the panel above the rear wheel and there is no connector.
Is it possible it has something to do with the white 18 pin connector on the same harness?? I might post in the main forum to see if I get any more ideas.

I think the TCU on the X5 goes on top of the amp rack. Did you have a hunt in that area?

Yeah I have pulled everything out in the equipment rack and its not there. The only next thing is to try and get the trim panel off that is between the floor and window and see if its hidden behind there.

Wow this is really a PITA! Is it fabric taped and hidden into one of the looms, or wedged into the inner and outer sills?
Since you have the snap in connector and antenna wiring, the bugger is in there somewhere. |
