Angry Installing D5166 Eonon player WITH PICS

Found this forum area and thought I'd repost. I will post lots of pics to what I have and maybe we can get this figured out. I see some others are having problems with no sounds too. AND Eonon makes it sound so easy, just plug and play they say, BS! I bought their extension cable for the 40pin connector, tore the side of my car apart, routed the cables and NO sound, NO LED back lights on the buttons! Here are some pics.

First my head unit area, I don't have a DSP button

OEM 40pin plug

Eonon A0567 exntension cable which i spliced into following the DSP work around thread on xoutpost

Then the other end of the splices at the AMP connections

and my stock radio brain in the bottow of trunk

I recently installed the same unit in my wife's X5. I have the same LED back lighting problem that you have. I'm going to take it back out and try to figure out the problem. Just wondering if you have found what the problem is? Also, I noticed that in your first pic you said you did not have DSP. My wife's X5 does not have DSP either. I ran the extended wiring harness back to the connector next to the battery for the radio and have sound at all speakers. I think you only need to splice into the amp wiring if you have DSP. Anyway, any help you can give would be appreciated.

I was told even though I don't have the DSP button, I still have DSP, I have the AMP, NAV, and CD changer in trunk. None of this stuff has worked so far. I did find this:

successful DSP integration of aftermarket head unit! - Page 2 - Bimmerfest - BMW Forums

and am now trying to add the second Metra plug wiring into the mix

I think for LED we need to wire in the ORANGE lead from the Eonon cable to pin #14 of the OEM BMW radio, with an additional Metra plug, I just got mine from Ebay and plan to work on this all weekend

Wife's X5 had Nav, CD changer and amp on the left side access panel of the cargo area. If you had DSP it would show up on the menu of the display screen of your old Nav unit. From what I understand, if you do not have the subwoofer on the right side access panel in the cargo area, you do not have DSP. As to the LED back lighting, I noticed the short harness that comes with the unit has a pink wire on it labeled illumination. I don't think this wire is there on the extended harness judging from a photo I saw on the ebay web page where I originally purchased the unit. I haven't verified this as I'm waiting on a couple more things to arrive before I tear into again. If this is the problem I will take some pics and post them.

Then I definitely have DSP, I do have the sub on the right rear of X5. I just didn't have a DSP button, I never looked for DSP option on the screen before I started this.

for the LED, on the 5166 schematic is lists pin #4 at ILLUMI, So I guess I'll tone that out if the colors don't match up and supply 12v to that.

Figured out the LED back lighting. The extended harness does have the pink wire that was labeled illumination, so that was not the problem. Go into your setting menu, under the general tab is an option called light detection. Turn this to OFF. Then go to the LED tab and choose your color. The back lighting will be on. At least it is on my wife's X5. Since you have DSP and it makes everything much more difficult, I would buy an aftermarket amp and scrap the DSP amp. The twisted pairs of wires are your speaker connections. You would just need to figure out which wires went to certain speakers. An RCA patch cord run from the head unit to the amp would simplify things. Anyway, good luck with your install and thanks for the help.
