Rear mount for iceLink?
Are there many situations where the iPod and/or iceLink software crashes where I would need to resync the devices? From what I understand, the resync procedure requires setting the ignition key to an on position and pressing buttons on the iPod and/or removing and replacing the iPod on its cradle. If I need to do this often, then I would obviously mount the iPod up front for accessibility, probably inside an Euro empty console bin (not yet purchased). Has anyone mounted their iPod on the rear, only to remount it up front later on because of problems? I really don't want to mount the iPod on the dash or on the console- I'm reserving this spot for a portable Nav device. Thanks. Regards, Mike |

I ended up mounting my upfront and looking back I'm glad I did. From the best I can tell if you are using the head unit to access songs it must be done via playlists that you setup in the ipod. I have found that I like getting to my tunes directly through the ipod and not relying on narrowing down my 100+ albums to 5 playlists. The head unit and steering wheel still allows to control volume and scroll through songs on an album.
I originally mounted to right of shifter. Hated it, almost crashed. Moved up to vent above radio and works fine. Now I can find songs and still look out windshield. |

Good point - I would be stuck with only 5 play lists. Thanks.

Lots of people mount the iPod in the cargo area. Just coil up the wire bundle in case you change your mind later - the cradle can be brought into the cabin area later.

[QUOTE=Tom G.]Not really. You are able to browse the iPod by Artist, Albums and Playlists. Buttons 1-5 on the radio are just a quick "speed dial" for your first 5 playlists.
QUOTE] Tom, I can get artist and album selections from the radio or steering wheel controls with the iPod in the back? Regards, Mike |

My iPod is in the back.
It looks a lot like the photo that Tom has posted. For some reason - people really think that is cool. Tom is correct - everything else is controlled from the steering wheel or the buttons/knob on the Nav screen.

So to rear mount as discussed, is extra wiring or anything else required since I believe the module plugs in near the head unit?

Mine is mounted just like Tom posted too. It's an easy install and works great.

Hi Tom,
How do you scroll the IPOD using Album or Artist using the steering wheel control or NAV control, Tom? I have mine installed in the center ashtray and love it. When I need to find a song quickly, I unplugged the IPOD, look for the song using click wheel and plug it back in. But I think it'll be much better if I can scroll through using Album or Artist name. Thanks Tom. Justin. [QUOTE=Tom G.] Quote:
